Basketball Recap: Raidon Barney Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Gunnison Valley

South Sevier won the last time they faced Gunnison Valley and things went their way on Friday too. The Rams put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 70-49 win. With the Rams ahead 43-23 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

South Sevier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raidon Barney led the charge by going 9-for-15 en route to 24 points and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Barney has scored at least a third of the Rams' points. Another player making a difference was Krew Redd, who posted 16 points and five boards.

South Sevier was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gunnison Valley only racked up six.

When it comes to explaining why Gunnison Valley lost, don't look at Daxton Knudsen. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Talan Dyreng was another key player, putting up ten points.

The victory made it two in a row for South Sevier and bumps their season record up to 4-3. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 22 points. As for Gunnison Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

South Sevier has already played their next game, a 70-62 loss against San Juan on the 13th. Gunnison Valley has also already played their next matchup (against Grand County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
