Preview: Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils vs. Minersville Battlin' Miners
Shenandoah Valley is 2-7 against Minersville since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Minersville Battlin' Miners at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Shenandoah Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Schuylkill Haven at home and fell 72-42. Shenandoah Valley has struggled against Schuylkill Haven recently, as their contest last Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Minersville suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Wednesday. They were the victim of a rough 71-45 loss at the hands of Nativity BVM.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lorenzo Yourey, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Bradley Kostishak was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Shenandoah Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Minersville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
Shenandoah Valley suffered a grim 61-37 defeat to Minersville in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Shenandoah Valley was down 39-14.
