High school girls basketball: Sophomore Ashanti Taylor and five-star senior Aaliyah Chavez among national scoring leaders

Tionna Pettus at the top of the list thanks in part to 65-point performance in November.

Tionna Pettus of Bessemer City (Bessemer City, N.C.) is high school girls basketball's leading scorer nationally at 48.3 points per game, according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps. 

Since breaking the NCHSAA record by scoring 65 points on Nov. 20, Pettus has scored at least 40 points in every contest.

Ashanti Taylor of Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, N.C.) is second in the country at 36.8 points per contest to go along with 10.3 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 3.3 assists. On Dec. 10, the 5-foot-10 sophomore piled up 45 points, 21 rebounds and three steals in a 67-54 win over Forest Hills.

Five-star senior Aaliyah Chavez of Monterey (Lubbock, Texas) is No. 3 on the list at 34.9 points per game. On Dec. 10, the No. 1 player in the nation scored her 4,000th point. That was also her fourth consecutive double-double for the 18-3 Plainsmen.
