Basketball Game Preview: Cardozo Clerks vs. Dunbar Crimson Tide

Cardozo is 1-8 against Dunbar since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cardozo Clerks will look to defend their home court against the Dunbar Crimson Tide at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cardozo is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: Eastern, who was ranked 11th at the time (Cardozo was ranked fourth). Cardozo blew past Eastern 74-44 on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Clerks who have now won three matches in a row.

Cardozo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Young led the charge by putting up 13 points and four steals. Young has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 24 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Flynn Rillstone, who posted 16 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Dunbar got the win against Bard on Wednesday by a conclusive 71-47. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crimson Tide.

Cardozo's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.1 points. As for Dunbar, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Cardozo skirted past Dunbar 76-73 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Cardozo repeat their success, or does Dunbar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
