Baseball Recap: Port Charlotte Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Port Charlotte had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Riverview Sarasota on Friday. The Port Charlotte Pirates were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Riverview Sarasota Rams. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jasper Davis and Cayden Ruby did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Ruby went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Davis has posted since back in April of 2024. Joshian Tirado was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Port Charlotte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverview Sarasota only posted an OBP of .316.

Port Charlotte's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Riverview Sarasota, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Charlotte will take on Sarasota at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Port Charlotte's pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so Sarasota's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
