Baseball Game Preview: Asheville Cougars vs. McDowell Titans

The Asheville Cougars will square off against the McDowell Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McDowell took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Asheville, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Asheville earned a 9-4 win over North Buncombe. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Black Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, McDowell came up short against Enka on Friday and fell 7-2.

McDowell saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Brown, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another was Carson Killough, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Asheville pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for McDowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Asheville took their win against McDowell when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
