Recap: Monrovia Bulldogs vs. Greencastle Tiger Cubs
Even though the Monrovia Bulldogs have not done well against the Greencastle Tiger Cubs recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Monrovia enjoyed a cozy 64-49 win over Greencastle. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Monrovia.
Monrovia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mary Cox, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Grace Deaton was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with two steals.
Greencastle's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evelyn Briones, who scored 19 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Brown, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Monrovia is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Greencastle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monrovia on the road again on Thursday and play against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Indianapolis Scecina Memorial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Greencastle, they will head out on the road to square off against South Vermillion at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Vermillion comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 21 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
