Soccer Game Preview: Illinois Valley Central vs. Rantoul

The Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts will head out on the road to square off against the Rantoul Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Illinois Valley Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season.

Illinois Valley Central will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Thursday, then bounced right back against Monticello on Saturday. The Grey Ghosts were the clear victors by a 7-2 margin over the Sages. It was an even better day for Brody Garceau as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three match, Rantoul brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They came out on top against First Baptist Christian by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for Rantoul as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Rantoul's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Illinois Valley Central, their win bumped their record up to 11-6-3.

Illinois Valley Central couldn't quite get it done against Rantoul when the teams last played back in September of 2024 as they fell 4-2. Can the Grey Ghosts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
