Volleyball Recap: Riley Walker and Makaylee Merckling Secure Win for Highland

Highland won the last time they faced River Valley and things went their way on Thursday too. The Fighting Scots walked away with a 3-1 win over the Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Scots.

Highland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-15.

Highland was led to victory by MaKaylee Merckling and Riley Walker. Merckling had 26 digs and three assists, while Walker had nine digs and one assist. That's the most digs Merckling has posted over her last six matches.

Highland was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are 9-2 when they serve at least ten aces.

When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, don't look at Arianna Osborne. Despite the final result, she had 13 digs and five aces.

Highland's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for River Valley, their defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.
