Baseball Recap: St. Rita Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when St. Rita and Providence Catholic meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Mustangs fell 13-8 to the Celtics. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 12-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

St. Rita got a big performance out of Luke Arteaga, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Quinn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

St. Rita's loss dropped their record down to 13-17. As for Providence Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-11.

While St. Rita had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
