Basketball Game Preview: FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers vs. Maclay Marauders

The FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers are taking a road trip to take on the Maclay Marauders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. FAMU DRS is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

FAMU DRS is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a hard 63-48 fall against North Florida Christian on Thursday.

Despite the defeat, FAMU DRS had strong showings from Nivre Green, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 boards, and Hailyn Forbes, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Those 16 points gave Green a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Maclay was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Dawson County and fell 59-21. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 315th in Florida, while the Tigers are ranked 145th in Georgia).

FAMU DRS will have to contain Lauren Guyer as she made an impact in Maclay's last game. She put up 11 points. That was a full 52.4% of Maclay's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Maclay's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for FAMU DRS, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

FAMU DRS skirted past Maclay 37-34 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for FAMU DRS since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
