Baseball Recap: Beatrice Orangemen vs. Ralston Rams
Beatrice was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ralston Rams. One positive for the Orangemen, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Austin Baldwin was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and two doubles. Baldwin is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Kale Koch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ty Weichel also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Even though they lost, Beatrice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Beatrice's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Ralston, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Beatrice will face off against rival Lincoln Northwest at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Ralston is set to square off against their familiar foe Twin River at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
