Basketball Recap: Meyersdale Find Success

Meyersdale's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They escaped with a win against the Rockwood Rockets by the margin of a single free throw, 62-61. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Red Raiders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meyersdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Vogt out in front who went 7 of 13 on his way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those 22 points gave Vogt a new career-high. Aiden Thomas was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Rockwood lost, don't look at Riley Fazenbaker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 boards. Fazenbaker is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Ritenour, who posted ten points.

Meyersdale's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11. As for Rockwood, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Meyersdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-56 loss against Northern Garrett on the 27th. As for Rockwood, they are taking a road trip to face off against Tussey Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rockwood is facing Tussey Mountain at the right time seeing as Tussey Mountain is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
