Soccer Game Preview: La Joya Community vs. Independence

The La Joya Community Fighting Lobos will venture away from home to take on the Independence Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. La Joya Community is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, La Joya Community came up short against Glendale and fell 4-2.

Maggie Gonzalez wasn't going to let Glendale walk away unscathed as she scored both of La Joya Community's goals, bringing her season total up to four goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Independence made sure to put some goals up on the board against Washington on Tuesday. They never let the Rams onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won ten games by three goals or more so far this season.

Independence has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those eight contests. As for La Joya Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11-2.

La Joya Community suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Independence in their previous meeting back in December of 2014. Can La Joya Community avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
