Basketball Game Preview: Custer Wildcats vs. Chadron Cardinals

Custer and Chadron are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Custer Wildcats face off against the Chadron Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Custer took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 65-35 win over Mahpiya Luta. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 28 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Chadron came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 65-48.

Custer pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Chadron, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Custer was able to grind out a solid victory over Chadron when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 62-55. Does Custer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chadron turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
