The Coconino Panthers will challenge the Bradshaw Mountain Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coconino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Coconino came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Poston Butte by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Coconino saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abiu Chairez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Bradshaw Mountain entered their tilt with Flagstaff on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They skirted past the Eagles 5-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 14, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Caden Randall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three matches. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Bradshaw Mountain let Dylan Lockwood and Garison Jones run wild. Lockwood scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Jones scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Jones has posted since back in April of 2024.
Bradshaw Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flagstaff only posted an OBP of .344.
Bradshaw Mountain pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Coconino, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12-1.
