Softball Recap: Michigan Lutheran Seminary Now 12-1 over Last 13 Games

Michigan Lutheran Seminary barely beat Kingston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Michigan Lutheran Seminary blew past Kingston 11-1 on Wednesday. Considering Michigan Lutheran Seminary has won 19 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kerin Gardner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Gardner was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Makayla Roth was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. London Retberg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingston only posted an OBP of .250.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kingston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary and Kingston are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Cardinals are taking a road trip to square off against St. Charles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kingston, they will challenge Vassar at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
