Baseball Recap: Linfield Christian Takes a Loss

Linfield Christian extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 15-8-1 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Aquinas Falcons. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lions, who until this matchup were averaging 3.46 runs allowed.

As for Aquinas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. The result was nothing new for Aquinas, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Aquinas' part, they got a great performance from Hayden Vanderhoof as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Carter Hadnot was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Greenhouse, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Aquinas will challenge Ontario Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Falcons are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Linfield Christian will be paying especially close attention to Aquinas' match: after Aquinas faces off against Ontario Christian, they'll take on Linfield Christian again at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
