Baseball Recap: Shenandoah Valley Has No Trouble Against Minersville

While Shenandoah Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Minersville Battlin' Miners on Monday as they made off with a 6-0 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Brayden Maksimik made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Maksimik wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jostin Lajara, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Shenandoah Valley and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Minersville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Shenandoah Valley will face off against Schuylkill Haven at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hurricanes will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Minersville, they will challenge Marian Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
