Recap: McKinley Tech Trainers vs. Banneker Bulldogs

On Monday, the McKinley Tech Trainers faced the Banneker Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. McKinley Tech fell to Banneker 62-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Despite the loss, McKinley Tech still got an impressive performance from DaMontae Neclos, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Ricardo Hardy was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Banneker's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Doran Clausell, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clausell has scored at least a third of Banneker's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Shelton, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for McKinley Tech and nudges their season record down to 15-10. As for Banneker, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKinley Tech will take on Woodson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in McKinley Tech's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. Banneker is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Roosevelt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Monday.
