Basketball Game Preview: D'Hanis Cowboys vs. Sabinal Yellowjackets

The D'Hanis Cowboys and the Sabinal Yellowjackets will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

D'Hanis is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Dilley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cowboys blew the Wolves out of the water with a 76-42 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cowboys had established a 26-point advantage.

D'Hanis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kase Braden led the charge by dropping a double-double with 16 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance also gave Braden a new career-high in blocks (four). Jackson Cross was another key player, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Sabinal earned a 66-55 win over Natalia on Monday.

Sabinal pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points over those games. As for D'Hanis, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

D'Hanis barely slipped by Sabinal in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 44-43. Will the Cowboys repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
