Softball Recap: American Canyon Drops Highest Score of Season Against Justin-Siena

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask American Canyon). They blew past the Justin-Siena Braves 18-3 on Wednesday. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Braves, too.

Jordan De Los Santos made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Raquel Winterburn and Camille Wilson did most of the damage at the plate: Winterburn went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Wilson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Winterburn a new career-high. Ianna Labao was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

American Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

American Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Justin-Siena, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. American Canyon will take on rival Vintage at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolves 4.1, the Crushers 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Justin-Siena is set to square off against their familiar foe Petaluma at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
