Baseball Game Preview: Vista Panthers vs. Poway Titans

For the second straight game, Vista will face off against Poway. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Vista has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Poway will arrive with 11 straight wins.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Vista and Poway, and Poway kept the tradition alive. The Panthers came up short against the Titans on Monday, falling 7-1.

For Poway's part, Owen Digenan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Digenan has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Parker Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Poway: the team is 10-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Altman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Poway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Vista now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Poway, their victory bumped their record up to 16-9.
