Baseball Game Preview: Creighton Prep Junior Jays vs. Elkhorn South Storm

The Creighton Prep Junior Jays will head out on the road to take on the Elkhorn South Storm at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Creighton Prep nor Elkhorn South posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Creighton Prep lost 10-2 to Staley on Saturday.

Creighton Prep got a good showing from Oliver Gubbels, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Creighton Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tony Coniglio, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn South had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of Papillion-LaVista South by a score of 3-2 on Friday.

Elkhorn South also got a good showing from Devin Meier, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Meier a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Creighton Prep couldn't quite finish off Elkhorn South when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Creighton Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
