Soccer Game Preview: Lawrence vs. Shawnee Mission East

Lawrence hasn't had much luck against Shawnee Mission East recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lancers. Lawrence's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Lawrence fought the good fight in their overtime game against Shawnee Mission South on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that Lawrence have lost by just one goal.

Their goal came courtesy of Ginny Besson, who's now up to five this season.

Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission East faced Olathe North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Lancers had just enough and edged out the Eagles 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for Shawnee Mission East, who have now won three contests in a row.

Shawnee Mission East's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matches. As for Lawrence, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
