Baseball Game Preview: Spanish Springs Cougars vs. Douglas Tigers

The Spanish Springs Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Douglas Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Spanish Springs made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bishop Manogue, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars fell just short of the Miners by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Miners: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Douglas suffered their closest defeat since April 8th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Reed by a score of 5-3. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Douglas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Ovard, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Douglas' loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Spanish Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-10.

Everything went Spanish Springs' way against Douglas when the teams last played on April 12th, as Spanish Springs made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
