Basketball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall was the 57-49 winner over Smith-Cotton when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Marshall Owls were dealt a 94-47 loss at the hands of the Smith-Cotton Tigers on Monday.

When it comes to explaining why Marshall lost, don't look at Deacon Arends. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and three steals. Arends has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Smith-Cotton, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will take on Moberly in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Smith-Cotton, they will head out to square off against Versailles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
