Volleyball Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Torres Toros

The McLane Highlanders will head out on the road to challenge the Torres Toros at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

McLane lost 3-0 to Madera South on Thursday. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

McLane was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Torres came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wildcats 3-0.

While Torres won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 25-10.

McLane better focus on containing Gianna Gonzalez and Alexa Cervantes as the pair were huge in Torres' win. Gonzalez had 17 digs and two assists, while Cervantes had 18 assists and three digs. Those 18 assists gave Cervantes a new career-high.

Torres now has a winning record of 10-9. As for McLane, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17.

McLane suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Torres in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Highlanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
