Soccer Game Preview: La Vernia vs. San Antonio Memorial

La Vernia and San Antonio Memorial are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2020, but likely not for long. The La Vernia Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

San Antonio Memorial will be up against a hot La Vernia squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. La Vernia's defense stepped up to hand Luling a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Emiliano Perales was a massive factor in the win as he booted in five goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, San Antonio Memorial waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Apaches 3-0. Give the Minutemen's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

San Antonio Memorial pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matches. As for La Vernia, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

La Vernia took their win against San Antonio Memorial in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Vernia since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
