Softball Recap: Cosby Comes Up Short

Cosby has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.27 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell 11-6 to the Hanover Hawks. The Titans have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Aislin Bossler and Amelia McCovick did some serious damage despite the final result: Bossler went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI, while McCovick went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Shaver, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Cosby's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Hanover, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Cosby will square off against Highland Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Springers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hanover, they are taking a road trip to square off against Powhatan at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
