Softball Game Preview: Miami Christian Victors vs. Doral Academy Firebirds

The Miami Christian Victors are taking a road trip to take on the Doral Academy Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Miami Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Doral Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Miami Christian is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Westminster Christian just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 6-2 to the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Victors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Doral Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Archbishop McCarthy on Tuesday. The Firebirds put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meagan Villazon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Sarah Breaux was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Anabela Abdullah was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Doral Academy's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.1 runs on average over those games. As for Miami Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.
