Softball Recap: Berkeley Prep Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers didn't have quite enough to beat the Foundation Academy Lions and fell 7-5.

Ella Malin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Holland Poe, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Malin wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Berkeley Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Berkeley Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Foundation Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Coming up, Berkeley Prep will challenge The First Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Berkeley Prep's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so The First Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Foundation Academy, they will square off against Mount Dora at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
