Norfolk took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Columbus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Norfolk sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Columbus on Monday. This was payback for Norfolk, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ava Lanman and Kendall Dennis scored both of Norfolk's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

The win got Norfolk back to even at 1-1. As for Columbus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Norfolk is set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln High at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Columbus will square off against rival Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
