Baseball Game Preview: Birch Run Panthers vs. Owosso Trojans

The Birch Run Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Owosso Trojans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Birch Run took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Vassar, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Vulcans on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Owosso entered their tilt with Clio on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 2-0 shutout.

Not much got past Jackson Sydow, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Clio off the board.

At the plate, Owosso's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Blake Binger, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases. Another was Carson Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Owosso's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Birch Run, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-5.
