Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Keller walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Frenship Tigers on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Tigers on Thursday, they had to take a 3-1 loss.
Avery Lawton and Claire Boggs dominated on the mound. Lawton tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits, while Boggs pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Boggs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mackenna Jackson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Kavanaugh, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Keller is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Frenship, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-4.
