Basketball Recap: Heights Skates Past Madison with Ease

Heights picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They really took it to the Madison Marlins for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-14 victory. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 39-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Marlins cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Heights to victory were Jazmyne Gilbert and Mira Johnson. Gilbert went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points along with six steals and five boards, while Johnson posted ten points in addition to six steals and five boards. That's the most steals Johnson has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramiyah Denson, who had six points and seven steals.

Madison lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Azahni Taylor, who put up six points.

Heights has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points per game. As for Madison, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Heights wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 35-31 win against Wyatt on the 6th. As for Madison, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-17 loss against Fort Bend Kempner on the 6th.
