Softball Recap: Tehachapi Wins Going Away Against West

Tehachapi never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the West Vikings. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Porter Averianna was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Leyva, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Mya Gil also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Tehachapi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Tehachapi's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Tehachapi will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
