Baseball Recap: Rock Falls Comes Up Short

Rock Falls scored first but ultimately less than Winnebago in their game on Thursday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 15-8. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Carter Hunter and Austin Castaneda did some serious damage despite the final result: Hunter got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Castaneda got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Castaneda is becoming a predictor of Rock Falls' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 8-15-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Connor Fritz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Rock Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 12-16-1. As for Winnebago, they pushed their record up to 11-20 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

While Rock Falls had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
