Baseball Recap: Payton College Prep Takes a Loss

If Payton College Prep was riding high fresh off their 12-4 takedown of Whitney Young on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Grizzlies came up short against Ogden International on Wednesday, falling 14-6. The Grizzlies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Ogden International apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Derek Patton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Payton College Prep's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't). Augie Ruf was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Payton College Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Ogden International, they moved to 9-10 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.
