Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Dallas' Winning Streak

Dallas dropped their record down to 10-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tunkhannock Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Mountaineers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Dallas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was CAROLYN COMITZ, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Tunkhannock, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Tunkhannock's side, McKenzie Hannon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Hannon has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Erin Van Ness, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Alli Kinney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Dallas and Tunkhannock should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Mountaineers (ranked 92nd) will meet Scranton Prep (ranked 281st) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Tunkhannock will face off against Wyoming Valley West at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (4 vs. 485). The timing is sure in the Tigers' favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Spartans have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
