Football Game Preview: Howard Tigers vs. Garretson Blue Dragons

The Howard Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Garretson Blue Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Howard is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Howard is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Hanson, who was ranked 19th at the time (Howard was ranked 11th). The Tigers managed a 12-7 victory over the Beavers on Friday. The 12-point effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Garretson played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Elkton/Lake Benton and fell 69-21. The Blue Dragons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-7.

This is the second loss in a row for Garretson and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Howard, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Howard against Garretson in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 54-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
