Softball Game Preview: Wolfe City Wolves vs. North Hopkins Panthers

For the second straight game, Wolfe City will face off against North Hopkins. Wolfe City is taking a road trip to take on North Hopkins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Wolfe City took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over North Hopkins.

For North Hopkins' part, they saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaidance Godbolt, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Lucy Hernandez was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Even though they lost, North Hopkins hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in 11 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Wolfe City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, North Hopkins fell to 6-1.

Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wolfe City has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .517. However, it's not like North Hopkins struggles in that department as they've averaged .708. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
