Baseball Game Preview: Collegiate Cougars vs. Life Christian Academy Eagles

The Collegiate Cougars will take on the Life Christian Academy Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Collegiate is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Anne's-Belfield just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints.

Meanwhile, Life Christian Academy waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Knights a 13-0 shutout. 13 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Gavin Spiegel looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Josiah Glance was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Conner Gaster, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Life Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peninsula Catholic only posted an OBP of .333.

Life Christian Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.
