Basketball Recap: Coffee Comes Up Short

Coffee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 44-28 to the Tift County Blue Devils. The matchup marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Coffee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tresean Smith posted nine points in addition to six boards and three steals. Brax Carson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Coffee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tift County only pulled down ten offensive boards.

Tift County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Osario Brewton, who put up six points. JJ Lamar was another key player, putting up eight points.

Coffee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Tift County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Coffee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-42 loss against Houston County on the 17th. Tift County has also already played their next contest, a 47-43 win against Colquitt County on the 17th.
