Basketball Recap: Estero Comes Up Short

Estero was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bonita Springs Bullsharks. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bullsharks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Despite the loss, Estero still got an impressive performance from Ashton Peterson, who posted 26 points. The contest was Peterson's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Andrew Tetrault was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Ayden Kirkby had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 56% from the field on his way to 26 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals for Bonita Springs. With that strong performance, Kirkby is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Trey Bronson, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Estero now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Bonita Springs, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Estero has already played their next game, a 77-54 defeat against Cape Coral on the 9th. As for Bonita Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-50 loss against Aubrey Rogers on the 5th.
