Basketball Game Preview: U-32 Raiders vs. Montpelier Solons

U-32 is 0-10 against Montpelier since March of 2020 but things could change on Monday. The U-32 Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Montpelier Solons at 7:00 p.m.

U-32 is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They fell 56-47 to Lyndon Institute.

Meanwhile, Montpelier faced Spaulding in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Montpelier breezed by Spaulding to the tune of 86-38. The Solons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Montpelier's win came from a few key players U-32 will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Clayton Foster, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points and four steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Cody, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.

Montpelier smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Montpelier's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.7 points per game. As for U-32, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

U-32 was taken down by Montpelier 86-53 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can U-32 avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
