Softball Recap: St. Paul Gets the Win

St. Paul proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Saint Joseph Jesters, sneaking past 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Robyn Guitron spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mia Negrete was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Jaylyn Villagrana was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: St. Paul lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

St. Paul's record is now 15-7. As for Saint Joseph, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-3 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Jesters beat St. Paul by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday.
