JJ Jeter commands the offense for Rebels win

Recap: Bessemer Academy Rebels vs. Lee-Scott Academy Warriors

The Bessemer Academy Rebels had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lee-Scott Academy 63-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Bessemer Academy has posted yet this season.

Bessemer Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JJ Jeter, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Jeter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Tyseon Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Lee-Scott Academy saw an underclassman step up: Haiden Harper scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Harper hasn't dropped below 15points for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Parker Wright, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.

Bessemer Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Lee-Scott Academy, their defeat ended a 18-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bessemer Academy will take on Monroe Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Monroe Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Macon-East Montgomery Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Macon-East Montgomery Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Lee-Scott Academy is ranked 42nd).
