Basketball Recap: Sumner Skates Past South Kitsap with Ease

Sumner won the last time they faced South Kitsap and things went their way on Friday too. The Sumner Spartans breezed by the South Kitsap Wolves to the tune of 82-44. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Wolves are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sumner has also been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points per game. As for South Kitsap, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Sumner will host Curtis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumner knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Curtis likes a good challenge. As for South Kitsap, they will head out on the road to face off against Emerald Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Emerald Ridge has seven straight wins, South Kitsap has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
