Basketball Recap: Cross Keys' Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Howard wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cross Keys, they should've done a better job of containing Christian Holmes. The Cross Keys Phoenix escaped with a win on Tuesday against the Howard Hawks by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43 thanks in part to Holmes, who posted 18 points along with five boards and five steals. He has become a key player for Cross Keys: the team is 10-5 when he posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise.

Another player making a difference was Dre Tucker, who put up ten points and three steals. Tucker is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Despite the defeat, Howard saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Keegan Roberts scored 20 points. Michael Davis was another key player, putting up 11 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Cross Keys and bumps their season record up to 11-7. As for Howard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Cross Keys has already played their next match (against Excel Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Howard has already played their next contest, a 51-44 win against Varsity Opponent on the 15th.
